All around us, spring has sprung. We put away the heaviness of winter as the snow melts for the final time. Under the melting ice and snow, early spring flowers are growing and buds are forming on the trees.
That winter heaviness is replaced with a fresh spring feeling. Even the air smells different. Our step is a little lighter, along with early mornings.
Time to start anew. Who needs January resolutions when we have a new spring hop in our step? This is the time of year to clean out the old and plan for the future!
Have we thought about what that means for our children too? Let's take a few minutes to revaluate this year's inspiration for our kids. Let it inspire the education journey you are taking with them. After all, their true moral, academic and inspirational compass starts with their biggest influencer - you.
Take a slow walk and watch them wonder at their world. Listen; look; smell; take it all in.
Look deep into their eyes and smile at them. Watch what happens to their faces.
Ask them what they are wondering about, thinking about or looking at. You'll probably be surprised at the answer.
Let them hold the pencils, scissors and glue. It's a lesson in fine motor skills, as well as patience for everyone.
Let them name every art project they create and carry it around like a precious baby doll.
Eat brownies while doing your school work.
Exercise together. This includes having a dance party!
Let them pick a new subject to study. A new recipe to bake; a new animal to study; a new experiment to practice; learn a new language.
Do school or read books in a new place - a tent outside, a picnic blanket, the park, or simply a different room of the house.
May the vibrant color and energy of spring renew your inspiration. May a fresh perspective inspire your children. You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to be there. Make sure you are their #1. And, as always, Huron Academic Endeavors will be here for you!
